In this months Classical Music magazine, the Telemann Fantasias received 5 stars:

This freshness and excitement are tangible on the current disc, well-filled and beautifully recorded, such that at no point does the ear tire of a solitary viola da gamba.

The recording also received a review in the Nederlandse Dagblad:

Robert doet een overtuigend pleidooi voor deze muziek. Prachtig zijn de muzikale stijlmiddelen die Smith gebruikt om deze muziek tot leven te brengen.

Robert makes a convincing argument for this music. The various musical styles employed by Smith are beautiful and bring this music to life.

In contrast to the first review the Dagblad found that perhaps 80 minutes of unaccompanied music was too much of a good thing. You’ll have to decide for yourselves!
